This hotel was absolutely fantastic all around. We received the best service in all of Portugal at this hotel during our stay. On top of great service, the rooms were excellent; lots of space, excellent furnishings, luxurious bedding, and very quiet.

Staff was so friendly and great, especially Dagmar (I think that was her name). She helped us with parking, places to eat, visiting the castle, and anything else we needed, and genuinely cared. The room we received (free upgrade!) was amazong!...clean, comfortable, spacious and had an actual king sized bed.

Tomar is a very attractive medieval city, seeped in history. The Convento de Christopher towers over the city and well worth a visit. The Central Park is beautiful with its river and trees is a lovely relaxing place. Plenty of restaurants all in walkable distance of each other. Further out of town is a six kilometre aqueduct built in the time of Philip 2nd of Spain. A marvel of medieval engineer.

Tiny small place. Clean bedding.
Tiny small place. Clean bedding. Quiet. 15 minutes walk from center.
I had to call a few times to get a reply where the key is.
Kitchenette, but:
No kettle for tea, no kitchen towel. Onky one mug.
No bath mat. Bath towels with bleach stains.

If you take the trouble to walk around Tomar, especially the old town, it is a fascinating place. It has an interesting square where the locals come out to socialise in the evening. There are a goodly number of restaurants, suitable for all budgets.

Beautiful, historical town with massive Templar Castle up the hill. That alone is worth the side trip form Lisbon or Porto. Many groups buses stop for a day but it is a rushed way to experience this place. I think two nights allows for a better immersion into its history. Castle alone takes few good hours, not counting the outdoor area. Great place to slow down and feel the old energy there. Town has plenty of coffee shops and nice eateries. Picturesque river runs right through the middle of town. Totally walkable town with quaint, clean streets with plenty places along the way to stop for a coffee, ice cream or a tasty bite. If you are there on a weekend you might get a chance to get a picture with a Templar knight!

Do not miss the aqueduct on the outskirts of town as you drive in - I've seen quite a few and the only better is the one in Segovia in Spain. This is a double decker that goes for half a mile, in terrific condition. I'm an aqueduct fan and this was worth a trip to Tomar by itself.
But there's more: the Templar chapel in the monastery at the top of the hill above the Praca Republica is one of those places where, just when you are beginning to feel like you've seen enough church stuff, you go holy smokes! I've never seen anything like this!
The town itself is cozy and warm, and it's worth a walk around to all the different churches and along the river. You can see everything in a day if you don't dawdle.

Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Portuguese...
Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Portuguese countryside, Tomar is a captivating town steeped in history and brimming with charm. Renowned for its magnificent Templar Castle and Convent, Tomar offers a captivating blend of medieval enchantment and modern-day allure.
The Castelo de Tomar, or Tomar Castle, stands as a testament to the power and influence of the Knights Templar, who established their stronghold in Tomar in the 12th century. This imposing fortress, adorned with intricate carvings and architectural masterpieces, is home to the Convento de Cristo, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture.
The Convento de Cristo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a labyrinth of grand cloisters, chapels, and chapterhouses, each whispering tales of the Knights Templar's influence. The remarkable Cloister of Silence, with its serene atmosphere and intricate tracery, is a must-see for any visitor to Tomar.
I spent two nights here on my pilgrimage walking from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela, since I wanted a full day to explore Tomar, especially the Convent of Christ which is just across the river and up the hill from the hotel. It was the perfect place to me, and the grandmotherly women in the reception was a nice break from the typical young receptionist wearing a suit. They were quite happy to advise on where to go to run various errands I had, and understood exactly what kind of state I was in, as a tired walker.
Perfect location, on the main pedestrian street, right in the beautiful center of Tomar.
I didn’t really stay at Hotel Cavaleiros but Residencial União which I was offered by the friendly man at the reception (ruled by the same owners, I guess)
The building was old and charming, and so was the room, nice, comfortable and quiet, facing rear as requested (good view anyway)
Good wifi. Amazing price. Great place!
Simple, inexpensive rooms very near the historical center of Tomar, a small but historically significant city. The kindly, and very knowledgeable owner of the hostel gave us a very interesting introduction to Tomar’s significance by way of a 15 minute explanation of places of importance to visit which made the stay worthwhile. There’s a nice common space and kitchen visitors are welcome to use.
Everything. This hotel is a hidden gem in the lovely city of Tomar. Thelma was extremely kind and helpful for our much too short stay. The room was exceptional, the pool and rooftop very comfortable and the connected restaurant (Belpaço) was one of the best meals we've had in a long time. Pet friendly. All rooms and fixtures were like new. Views of the city and castle are exceptional.
This is the best bargain in Tomar. it’s a wonderful location just a short walk to the historic part of town. a free breakfast is included. The walk in shower has the best water pressure of any hotel I’ve ever been in.
i can’t recommend it highly enough. nearby restaurants and outdoor cafes….a spectacular public market on Friday and Saturday…just a five minute walk away.
magical place
Everything was wonderful: central location, a few minutes walk to restaurants. Helpful staff. Welcome Porto glass. Great breakfast. And - a terrace with a view at the castle. Sunset, oh! Self service bar with incredibly low prices so we had a glass of Mateus rose wine every evening. Loved every bit of our stay in Tomar and Thomar hotel :)))
Location: inside the old town, close to everything.
Bed: comfortable, soft “homefeel” linen.
Room: very spacious, light; really quiet, maybe because we were travelling during low season ( November )
Staff: polite, proactive, responsive;
excellent English.
Breakfast: outstanding!!!
(wish the like are served @ our domestic hotels)
Staff welcomed us upon arrival, upgraded our room and let us check in early. We were shown the lovely lounge area with the honesty bar. Our room was fabulous -spacious with a couch seating area, a desk and a small terrace. Bathroom was the large with tub and shower. Best place that we have stayed at in Portugal and we will return.
The host was very friendly and engaging. He explained about how he had inherited the house from his grandfather, and the extent of the renovations required. The house itself is amazing! It was a great and marvellous accident that I booked this hotel, but I would urge anyone staying in the Tomar area to stay at this hotel. Amazing!
We loved the town of Tomar and this was the perfect place to spend a night there and recharge after being in hotels for most of the trip. There was a washing machine and a beautiful patio (we were on the top floor of the building). Clean and well renovated everything seemed new but with a simple elegant aesthetic.
Location is great, the apartment is very spacious and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen with everything you will need, plenty of plates / bowls / cups / cutlery. Dishwasher is very useful, washing machine also handy. This is our favorite apartment out of the 6 we stayed in different areas of Portugal.
I loved the fact that it was quiet and it is a good place to relax. I'll be coming back in the future for sure😊 Staff very friendly, I met Patricia, very cute😊 and the Hostess Telma, very friendly and polite on the phone. I already recomended to my friends in Portugal and England.
Gorgeous 😍 small hotel with a wonderful lounge area on the first floor up. Staff was exceptional. Breakfast buffet was delicious. Top notch all the way. Best bed I've slept in in Portugal. Such a splurge for little money. Great value. So close to the castle
Everything about this hotel makes for a wonderful and lavish experience. The decor, the friendly staff, the breakfast spread and the dinner at the in house restaurant.
The best hotel I have stayed at in Portugal, highly recommended.
Very convenient to downtown Tomar, parking and the sights. The second level outdoor lounge area and honesty bar were a bonus. The breakfast was excellent and the staff accommodating. Definitely recommend Tomar Boutique Hotel!
Staff is exceptionally nice and welcoming, the facilities are gorgeous (outdoors too), and the rooms are very comfortable. Easy to park and move around and it's a historical place so you get to learn more about Portugal.
Excellent location with very helpful staff. Restaurant owned by the same people is next door and was one of the best meals we had in Portugal in 2 weeks. Swimming pool was very welcome at end of long day.
Without doubt the best thing is the amazingly comfortable bed I had, a rare find in Portugal!! The host couldn't have been more kind and helpful and the location was perfect.
An excellent breakfast and a very friendly, helpful and charming host combined with spacious rooms in a hotel with lots of history. Our host Diniz is the best!
