Easygoing and green in both senses of the word, Nantes is the gateway to the Loire Valley. On a delta between the Loire, Erdre and Sèvre rivers, this once important port is now an innovation pioneer.
A former shipyard, the Île de Nantes in the Loire now houses bars, clubs and restaurants. However, its most intriguing feature is the Machines of the Isle of Nantes, a collection of weird and wonderful mechanical sculptures – you can even take a ride in the elephant.
Across the river is the moat-surrounded Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne, a fortified castle and former home of Breton Dukes. A few streets away is Nantes Cathedral, whose façade is reminiscent of the one in Reims. Place du Bouffay in the historic centre is home to many restaurants and bars, while 19th-century shopping centre Passage Pommeraye houses a range of stores over 3 grand levels. For a taste of daily life head to Talensac market.
Other Nantes attractions are the Japanese garden at Île de Versailles in the Erdre, the former shipowners’ houses at Île Feydeau, and the Jules Verne Museum, celebrating the city’s most famous son.
Don’t head to Nantes Airport from your Booking.com hotel, apartment or B&B without having tried the local speciality – crêpes. Delicieux!

Public transport is excellent, and free at weekends!
Public transport is excellent, and free at weekends! We had excellent fish and chips at Brady's Pub near the Station. My favourite place to visit was the Elephant and Le Jardin Extraordinaire. Nantes has managed to reduce traffic in the centre and make it pleasant to walk everywhere. I walked over 70 Km during a 2 week stay at 75 years of age!!!

The Chateau of the dukes of Brittany is a first class tourist attraction a two minute walk from the hotel. There is an excellent museum of the history of Nantes and an unmissable exhibition about Genghis Khan. There are no translations from the French - but Genghis Khan has an English audio guide.
We also enjoyed hanging out in the Botanical Gardens also a short walk away.
Nantes has amazing public transport with five tram lines. They are free on Saturdays and Sundays!

I went by train specifically to visit an exhibition at the Chateau and the hotel was perfectly placed both for that and the railway station.
The restaurant I had chosen proved too far for this weary traveller. I ate near the Chateau at La Loco (recommended by the hotel). Largely a fish menu; what I ate was freshly prepared and perfectly cooked.
Location - close to centre, easy access to tram and station, reserved car park
Room - comfortable, coffee machine, kettle, toiletries, view of the gardens
Breakfast - hot and cold buffet, decaf coffee available and oat milk.
Staff - very helpful on arrival providing map of Nantes and information. We had to leave suddenly in early hours due to family emergency. Staff available 24hours, made us a take away breakfast for our long journey. Couldn’t have been more helpful.
I had a room on the top floor under the eaves- so charming! The exposed beam and the skylights were very pretty.
The whole hotel was decorated with care. I found all the details to be quite thoughtful. Between the references to Voltaire and Verne, it’s quite a cultural place.
Breakfast was a treat and the space was particularly inviting. I lingered there over tea and treats all three mornings.
The staff was all friendly and warm, I felt cared for!
The hotel looked nice and the staff was very friendly. Everything was clean and they only exchanged the towels we asked for during our stay. The breakfast was good. It included scrambled eggs, sausages and potatoes. It had air condition and a Private parking garage for a reasonable price and they accepted a reservation for it. The reception is 24/7. The hotel is next to the city centre so sight-seeing is very easy starting from the hotel.
The hotel is conveniently located near the train station if you are arriving by train to Nantes. A short walk to Nantes' center with several restaurants just around the corner. Rooms are OK with all basic services included.
If you have a car, there is outdoor public parking very close to the hotel that is reasonably price (€2.50-€3/night). Just be sure to look for Chateau parking vs. Gare Chateau parking (€20+/night).
The appartment was bigger than expected. Very welcoming, clean with excellent facilities. The balcony was nice. Lidl and a boulangerie near was very convenient. The appartment was easy to get to and from using the local transport. A regular bus service to centre of Nantes about a 10 minute walk from the appartment. Nantes is a wonderful place with so much to see and do. Be sure to try the local Gallettes. Delicious.
Breakfast good. Guests pick time slot in order not to overcrowd breakfast room.
Location of hotel brilliant. Staff helpful and friendly. We were only here for an overnight stay, but we made the most of the great shopping, restaurants and bars . Nantes is a great city. This was a last stop after a beautiful week in France. We were flying out of Nantes airport which is within a 30min drive.
Adrienne on reception was so so helpful and nice. This is a budget hotel. You get what you pay for. The location is brilliant, in the centre with shops, transport on your doorstep. There was a slight issue with the booking sonwe were given 2 free breakfasts both mornings. I would definitley recommend this hotel if you are looking for cheap and cheerful.
The location is great, on the walking distance from everything you want to see. Also, the stuff is very nice and helped us with cheking-in before the set times (you can always check-in at the reception of the bigger hotel). Very clean and spacious room, perfect for a few nights stay.
I had a very pleasant stay in Nantes. Bruno is an excellent host, always attentive to our comfort, and he has recommended places to visit. The house is close to the tranway which makes it very accessible to anywhere in the city you want to go. I highly recommend it.
just outside city centre, free public transport at weekends in Nantes was a pleasant bonus
had underground parking
surrounding area appeared at first to be a bit soleless, walking around found bakery and convenience store
great for a couple of days stay
Very lovely staff, they would go the extra mile to help, I lost one of my airpod after checking out and the lovely Anne and other staffs went all out to find it for me. The hotel is right in the centre which is very convenient.
Very conveniently located between the train station and the centre of city; located in a residential neighbourhood with shops, cafes and the like; it was a full sized, very well equipped apartment and not just a hotel room
Very modern and clean place, comfortable beds, with easy and spacious parking, nice facilities, and a very good breakfast. The staff were friendly, it's a little far from the city centre but well connected.
Property was in an amazing location, very clean, and really fostered the community of travelers. The common room was a very cool concept which centralized the common features of the hotel.
