We enjoyed visiting the cathedral and the surrounding old town. Also seeing the steady stream of pilgrims arriving elated at the main square in front of the cathedral. We had hoped to see the priests swinging the censor during mass, but this apparently only happens on certain days of the year. I think that 2-3 days is enough to see the sights.

The streets are narrow and confusing. I got lost a lot. The city is on hills so lots of inclines. But the food was great…a very unique experience. If you can handle the walking and have a gps on your phone, you will love it.

You don't have to be catholic to appreciate the historical aspect of this charming city. We attended noon mass one day and visited the crypt with the supposed relics of St. Santiago (James) on another day. Loads of restaurants, shops, the usual touristy stuff. There's a little "tourist train" that costs about $12 for 2 seniors -- during the 45 min. ride, a recording in many languages gives you the latest info.

We stayed for 2 nights during our 3-week trip to Spain. The apartment itself was adequate for our needs. Lots of room with 2 bedrooms. We used the second bedroom to store our luggage. We appreciated the washing machine. The kitchen is nicely outfitted but we just used the refrigerator. Lots of windows and daylight. The space was good for the two of us - room to spread out. The location was excellent - we were able to walk to everything. We did have a car and there was a parking garage just a few minutes away. All very convenient.
Fantastic Location few steps away from plaza obradoiro and the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral . Modern, very clean and very nice hotel . The rooms are spaciuos and very well presented. Very good beds . Very good bathrooms .
Number # 1 choice in santiago de compostela .
Although the hotel does not have parking there is a public parking 1 block away. Yo can arrive by car and leave the luggage and then park the car .
Be sure to check the weather before traveling. We had a great time but we had rainy days .
It's a big pleasure to write opinion about this place :)
After second Camino this was my fourth night in Santiago. After three different places we looked for quite area but close to main square. I'm quite demanding traveller and I check opinions carefully before book something in Spain. Someone wrote that this is the best place in Santiago to stop and I agree. This was excellent choice! Very spacious room with amazing view on Cathedral, exactly like from photos. I highly recommend!
Hotel has recently been renovated, in contemporary style, to a high standard. We were pleasantly surprised at check-in by a complimentary upgrade to a first floor junior suite (thanks Susanna!). Room was tastefully decorated and immaculate. Comprehensive breakfast buffet with great selection of hot/cold options, fruit, etc. Easy walking distance to the centre of Santiago and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Exe Peregrino. At the price, one of the best hotels I have stayed in.
I felt very welcome by Julio and Jhuly from the moment I step into their beautiful place. I felt like at home.
They personally cooked and served breakfast for me the next morning and dedicated time to have a conversation, answer all my questions about the area and gave very nice recommendations about what to do in Galicia. Looking forward to seeing my “new family” in Spain when I get back to walk the Camino de Santiago next year.
Very nice private, four room small hotel. Nice, very clean room with private bath, shared kitchenette and lounge area. Maria personally received me and managed the daily cleaning etc. I found the facilities very nice, excellent value and Marie and Jose charming and helpful hosts. I was there four nights and the location was excellent for all old town Santiago attractions.
Best lodging on the Camino! Small boutique hotel in a fantastic location in Santiago. We will be staying here when we are next in Santiago. A little slice of heaven. Outstanding owners and staff, fabulous cafe/bar downstairs with just what you want to eat after weeks on the Camino, super comfy beds, view from the 3rd floor. Hated to leave.
I was traveling with my brother. He is in his 70's and he was ill. The staff was very accommodating in working with us. We were walking the El Camino de Santiago and continued on to Finsterra, Spain. We stayed at Mexico PR upon our arrival to Santiago and again when we returned from Finsterra. Thank you
This hotel was a nice restful oasis after finally completing the Camino. The beds were comfortable, the staff so friendly upon check in. Could not of asked for a more welcoming arrival. And location is just in the heart of Old Town Santiago just a few steps to the Cathedral. Certainly stay here again.
The hotel is located in a very good position… so close to the cathedral and to the city center… Mary, the receptionist was so kind and so polite… she upgraded us to a better room with view and balcony… breakfast was really good. The right place to rest once you ended your camino de santiago.
Great Location in the old town, the staff was very accommodating and went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable and informed. The Hotel and Room was spotless! The lounge area was also very comfortable. Would 100% recommend you book this hotel for any reason you are in Santiago.
Everything was great. We were able to leave our camino bags at Hotel Lux until we were able to move in at the apartment. The apartment is a bit from the old town but is great value if there are a number of people and would like to spend a few days around Santiago.
Lovely hotel in the perfect location for exploring the old town. Lovely choice at breakfast. Although it doesn't have a car park, the public car park is easy walking distance to the hotel. Would recommend for anyone looking to stay in Santiago de Compostela.
I loved this historic (rustic in the best sense of the word) hotel located in the same plaza as the Cathedral of Santiago. The service was wonderful with staff being very helpful and accommodating (especially with tending to my car).
Modern, clean, friendly staff, excellent location near Cathedral in old town. Due to a crisis at home, we had to cancel one of our two nights. Staff were very accomodating and helpful. Thank you so much.
Cesar and Eduardo and all of the staff was incredible. The location is perfect, right in the center with parking right by the hotel. The food at the hotel was the best we have had so far! Thank you!
Friendly helpful staff, some with great English skills. Easy to find, with inexpensive parking nearby. Beds were very comfy and LOVELY to get a duvet in Spain!!
