Surrounded by the sandy Costa Blanca beaches and the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean Sea, Alicante has a rich heritage built over thousands of years. Alacant (as it's known in Valencian) has a deep history ranging from the first tribes that arrived at the slopes of Mount Benacantil to Greeks, Romans and Moors. Nowadays, this modern city features a bustling harbor, great Spanish nightlife, charming old streets and modern beach resorts.
Overlooking the city from the top of Mount Benacantil, the Castle of Santa Barbara was built during Islamic rule in the 9th century. Cascading down the slopes towards the center of the city, L'Ereta Park has terraced levels that offer stunning panoramic views of the city. The remains of the ancient Roman town of Lucentum are also just a few miles away.
Barrio de la Santa Cruz is the historic quarter, featuring narrow streets, old houses and cobbled steps. Framed by palm trees and covered with a snaking pattern of white, red and blue tiles, the Explanada de Espana is considered one of Spain’s most beautiful promenades.
After arriving at Alicante Airport, indulge yourself in a resort near San Juan beach, or enjoy the view of luxurious yachts moored at the marina from a cozy B&B: Booking.com has the perfect spot for you to discover the magic of Alicante!
I really enjoyed Alicante. It was authentically Spanish and multicultural with many Moroccan and Algerian cafes and restaurants in the urban area in which I stayed.
The Esplanade is a very attractive area with good tree cover providing shade on the promenade. There are some lovely boutiques and clothes shops in the centre. I loved the Mercado, with its fish and meat markets and the MOBAG art gallery was showing a fantastic exhibition of drawings by Salvidor Dali.
Prices for meals and drinks are very reasonable.
I felt very safe as a solo female traveller and had no issues whatsoever.
I used the bus service and the tram-train regularly and was really impressed with their efficiency and regularity. I was also impressed by the traffic flow in the city and the suburbs. there were no traffic jams, no speeding and all drivers drove carefully, whether in cars, motorbikes, or indeed e-scooters (which are allowed on the roads).
The population look happy and content and seems to have a balanced lifestyle. I shall return.

First visit for my mother who is 86.
First visit for my mother who is 86. She loved the city and with the lift to Castillo Santa Barbara and the well laid out paths to Castillo San Fernando she was able to enjoy most of the main sites. A first visit to MUBAG for us both.....wonderful space. The Metro was accesible and comfortable so we enjoyed a trip to Villajoyosa and the Valor chocolate museum - again the facilities there meant the tour was fully accessible.
Loved El Parque Palmeral, although because of road works, finding a working bus stop to get back was a bit of a challenge, which was overcome with the help of some lovely local people.

Initially I found it hard to navigate my way around the city as it is vast, with SO many little side streets, avenues & larger shopping areas. I didn't have mobile data so had no access to maps or translation apps unless I was back at my hotel (using the free wifi) so in future I wouldn't be so stubborn by refusing to pay the data roaming fees :) It would have made my life so much easier. That said, by getting lost & exploring, I discovered streets & places that I probably wouldn't have otherwise so it just added to the adventure! Weather: 10/10. Scenery: 10/10. Once I got my bearings I was able to really enjoy myself & would definitely go back again!

Lovely weather durng the Easter break, generally very warm to moderately hot, and cooler in the shade or when there was some wind. The area was a good size to explore on foot with convenient access to neighbouring places like El Campello by tram. The food was great, we ate out at various restaurants throughout our stay, mainly favouring paella, tapas and Japanese food (ramen and sushi). Took our kids and they had a good time exploring and spending some time on the beach. Also managed a couple of days in the hotel pool which was lukewarm but bearable for short swims (about 30-45 mins).
this is a hidden gem! everything about this place exceeded our expectations. we stayed at 4 different hotels while visiting Spain and Serawa is by far the best stay we had! from the employees here- front desk, coffee shop, cleaning ladies everyone was exceptional. the customer service was superb! Veronica is such a wonderful host! the bed super comfortable, the room absolutely beautiful and clean. the location you can not beat. you r close to all the shops/ restaurants and even the beach. when we visit again, we will choose Serawa!
Perfect location in the old center not far from the beach. Very comfortable space. The host was very caring as they were issues upon arrival that were fixed very quickly. There is an extra deposit to leave (which I was not aware when booking), but that was paid back quickly after the trip without any fuss. All the necessary amenities for a short stay are there (but not for a longer stay like ours). The place was very clean. Alicante is charming, busy but not oppressing. Spain is very clean and very safe. We will come back.
I've been to all the hostels, AirBnbs, and hotels in Alicante. Hostel Ole is honestly the best value in town! The staff always treats me like an extension of the family!! They are the ONLY hostel with a bar and cafe. I love waking up and heading downstairs for some fresh squeezed orange juice and a tostada 😋. In the evening, I indulge myself with their top tier craft beers 🍻. I've met so many amazing people at this hostel!! Truly a family type vibe here. Thank you for everything Hostel Ole Familia!!!
A great surprise! I was travelling around the Valencia area and stayed in 5 hotels the 10 days I was in Spain., all highly rated, up to 4 star. This was the best room I had the entire stay, and at the best price. It was clean, spacious, with a big window, very comfortable bed and a great shower. The woman who was working was very friendly and extremely helpful. The location is perfect, a short walk to the beach, restaurants and the bus station. I will definitely book a room there again.
Fantastic long weekend break at MyFlats Luxury, Alicante.

▪️Fantastic customer service. The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and offered excellent service
▪️Highly recommended where staying for a few days or a few weeks
Would visit again and again
Perfectly located between beach / harbour area and the shops/restaurants, this hotel boasts the best location to explore all Alicante city has to offer. The bus stop for the airport is a short 3 min walk away. The hotel is spotlessly clean and offers a fantastic breakfast. The rooftop bar is small but offers lovely views of the castle and the city lit up at nighttime. While this hotel is more expensive than others in Alicante it is worth paying the little extra
A nice welcome by the hosts, great apartment in the heart of Alicante. Everything you need is within 10-15 minutes of walk by foot. The best thing about the apartment is that it has two separate bathrooms (toilets, showers), so it's easy to accommodate 4 people without any inconvenience. There was also a nice terrace where you can chill or have a rest. The hosts were really helpful and supportive (they even arranged a taxi for our early flight, kudos to them !).
The hotel has a great location with only a few minutes walk to the beach, while still being located in the gorgeous old town of Alicante. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the wonderful church as well. The area is super calm and there are lots of really nice restaurants within a few minutes of walking. The room was really nice and clean, the bed was wonderful and the staff was super nice and helpful. Definitely the best hotel I have ever stayed at!
Location is good , right by tram stop which takes you straight to Benidorm one way or into Alicante central the other. The hotel is a comfortable walk to Postiquet beach and city centre with many shops, bars and restaurants.
Staff are very helpful and friendly especially Fran in the bar !
Breakfast delicious and comfy clean rooms.
Simplicity is the best - very comfortable and clean rooms, equiped bathroom, the room 222 has perfect view on the sea
Breakfast is good - bakery, ham, cheese, egg and healthy things - suprise for us is fresh orange juice :)
Hotel in near the main street to Alicante City - 10min by car to the city, there is a bus stop 200m from hotel
I had to book another hotel due to confusion about check-in, but I really do appreciate the owner of this hostel understanding the situation and refunding me and communicating with booking.com. I've stayed before about a year ago and it was fine a good hotel to stay close to the center of Alicante.
Located in the heart of the city with plenty of things going on around the area. We took a bus from the Airport to Alicante which dropped us very close to the Hotel late at night but felt safe walking in the area. Breakfast was very good and more than adequate to keep us going for the day.
Lift to 5 th floor
Very good shower and hygienic toilet
Quiet, good insulation
Free water bottle
Small but clean room
For a budget hotel I find it very good
Only about 200m to C6 bus stop for Alicante airport (3.85€)
Cute little hotel in the heart of the city center. Nice rooms with super good beds, toilets really updated with cool decoration. Staff was very nice and also our room was cleaned everyday, which was a happy surprise :)
Great location on the beach front. Nice views as the hotel was the tallest building in the area. The superior room was spacious and clean. The staff were very helpful assisting with our requests without delay.
Excellent staff and impeccable hotel. Probably the best hotel bed I have had the pleasure of sleeping in. Location is also excellent, 5 minute walk from the beach. Definitely staying again!
Location was ideal only. 50 metres from c6airport bus stop near melia hotel at Port area near lots of nice restaurant s drinks are expensive at front line bars cheaper in city
