Thanks James for a wonder stay! We loved the unique experience of staying in a historic building and learning about its past. The room and the common areas were very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cutlery, great for cooking a quick meal or just making a cuppa. The family had a lot of fun playing games in the meals area :) And thank you so much for the dress up photo shoot before we were 'set free' :) It was a great experience and I highly recommend it to anyone (including families) wanting a different experience, not to mention the very reasonable price!

Such a pretty town with so many lovely houses and building. Lovely history to the place. Great vibe in the town centre with cafes and pubs and community. Lots to see and do with all the sinkholes, lakes and proximity to Coonawarra and Port MacDonell beaches

For a big town it lacked a choice of restaurants, we arrived quite late as travelling and nothing was open in town. Actually felt like a ghost town.
Good place to stop if travelling ocean road but only need one night there!
The Barns where we stayed had a good restaurant that was still open but is 20 min drive from town centre.

Much to see and do within a 100km radius of the city.
Much to see and do within a 100km radius of the city. It is a pity the the Princess Margaret Rose Cave is currently shut and there is no indication about a reopening date. The expected date (End of 2023) is now history. Direction signs should carry this information. Naracoorte Caves excellent. Get directions to "Hells Hole" and go for a short walk, Be amazed! Visitor centre is very helpful. If you are reasonably fit climb Mt Schank and walk the rim of an dormant volcano.

Despite the amazing natural attractions (especially the Blue Lake which is resplendent at this time of year), Mount Gambier seems to be revelling in past glories and much of the tourist infrastructure appears dated and run-down. Even the 'attractions' sign as you drive into town is peeling and faded...
I was surprised that it was possible to get a hotel room anywhere in Australia for less than $100. The beds were relatively new as was the fridge, toaster, kettle, aircon, tv and blinds. Some cutlery and crockery was provided which was handy. Original bathroom but a good layout with ample counter space and good hot water. The room and bedding was clean. Only issue was probably the lack of a fan/ventilation in the bathroom, which meant some mould on the walls. Some of the furniture was old and worn, but still practical.
The location was great, next to a shopping centre and a level 5 to 10 minute walk to the main shopping street where there were lots of cafes, hotels and shops. The room itself was basic and has not been renovated in a million years. However it was spacious, with good separation between the bed and the bathroom. It was clean, easy to watch the tv from the bed and the shower was hot with good water pressure. It had a couch which was dismally uncomfortable.
Great location at the center of Mount Gambier.
Walking distance to shops and the cave park.
The house is good, big enough for 4 adults and 2 kids. Kids like the attics with a secret wardrobe.
There is vacuum, washer and dryer. No pressure to bring a lot of clothes.
Backyard and sun room are also great. I spent a few hours on a sunny day just sitting in the run room and watch the grass in the backyard.
The receptionist guy was so rude, unprofessional, undisciplined, he took $150 from me as security bond and promised to refund it after checkout but he never did it, i call him more than 10 times to discuss about the bond but brings so much stupid excuses, me and five families from NSW and Queensland been treated like we are in India and I recommend no one book in presidential hotel
The room was VERY clean and more like a Hotel then a Motel, it was spacious
and comfotable.
The cost was more then a normal Motel but I appreciated to a point why when I got there .
Resturant and bar, also very nice, with a lovely atmosphere, very cosy. Staff also lovely and friendly. I would stay there again and would recommend The Commodore, to anyone who goes to Mt. Gambier.
Clean, modern room that was well equipped. Central location on the highway that was convenient for us visiting family in the area. Double glazed window really helped dull the traffic noise. Very cozy temperature. We have stayed at many motels in Mt Gambier when we visit my Dad here and this is the best that we will definitely book again.
the location was very good in a wonderful spot, the host tracy was very nice in taking the time to show us around and explain anything we would like to know, breakfast was great also. we stayed for 2 nights and wished we could of stayed longer. went to 2 wonderful restaurants the barn and comodore thank you tracy for a wonderful stay.
Historic hotel with a luxury vibe. We stayed in a 2-bedroom suite that had a separate common area. It was very spacious. The attached restaurant and bar were delightful. We were there over Christmas and it was rainy and cold so it was quiet. However the hotel more than exceeded our expectations and the staff was fabulous!
My partner and I had a great stay at Motel Mount Gambier! Upon arrival the room was spotless and very clean. A very spacious room with everything we needed. Close to the town centre and also the electric blankets were an added bonus for the cold Mount Gambier Nights! A positive experience and stay.
It was such a please to stay at the Mount Gambier Hotel. The rooms were clean, tidy and very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and had Aesop hand wash and moisturiser.
The food at the hotel was exceptional. I just wish we had stayed longer than one night! would definitely stay here again.
Very clean room with comfortable bed and pet friendly a major attraction for us. Room attendant very friendly, efficient and hospitable and made us feel welcome. Easy transit to city centre. Easy car parking just outside door of room.
Great value. The location of the motel is in the centre of Mount Gambier. The receptionist assist my mother to move her car while the carpark is full. Great service. The motel is only 5 minutes away from the Blue Lake. Great Stay.
So much better than a pokey motel room for a multi night stay in Mt Gambier, and very reasonable pricing also. Lovely apartment, clean, well appointed and located close to walk trails and CBD.
The motel was easy to find, surrounded by a strip of motels on the main road. The rooms were clean, but although I booked a Superior Room, it was only marginally better than the Budget room.
Great location with old world charm, large room, coffee machine, and comfortable bed. Ample food provided to cook your own breakfast. Hotel has bar and restaurant with a good menu.
I like the location, close to shops, restaurants and supermarket, Dan Murphy is just behind the hotel. The room was clean with all the necessary facilities and the bed was comfy.
Wonderful customer service. We left our items at the hotel, and a staff member promptly contacted us and organised a post to return our items in no time. Thank you so much!
