The location was good apart from the road construction outside. Our room was at the back, so we weren't affected by noise from the work. The staff were fantastic, the room was spacious and clean. Lovely building.

Portugal’s medieval capital, and a pioneer of fado music alongside its modern counterpart Lisbon, Coimbra is a vibrant university city with a good helping of historic sights.
The university is the country’s oldest and its attractive buildings cover a small hill overlooking the Mondego River. The institution has an excellent science museum, the ornate Joanina Library, and one of the world’s oldest botanical gardens which contributes to the lush landscape.
The midweek nightlife in the city’s bars and restaurants is popular with students, while shopping options range from the stores of the CoimbraShopping complex to smaller boutiques on cobbled streets in the historic Baixa district.
The medieval centre houses the museum of Coimbran sculptor Machado de Castro and the Old Cathedral, begun under the reign of the first Portuguese King, Afonso Henriques. He is buried in Santa Cruz Monastery, while the tomb of a later queen – Elizabeth of Aragon – is in the Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Nova. She founded this hilltop convent to replace flood-prone Santa Clara-a-Velha below. Between them is Portugal dos Pequenitos where Portugal’s main monuments are reproduced in miniature.
Nearby is Quinta das Lágrimas, a 19th-century mansion that is now a luxury hotel on Booking.com. Also available are cheap hostels and guest houses near the 2 main train stations.

We were lucky enough to arrive during the last week of term for the university students, which made the town lively and interesting. The tour of the university , particularly the library, was fascinating. It was also lovely to walk through the old town, eat pastries, listen to music and absorb the atmosphere. Sitting in the Botanic gardens with a book in the afternoon sunshine was an opportunity to relax in otherwise busy days.

Coimbra is a delightful town to visit.
Coimbra is a delightful town to visit. The town is architecturally pleasing, with clean, safe, streets, and a refreshing lack of graffiti.
There is a good choice of hotels and restaurants, and those that we patronized were of good quality, with helpful staff, all of whom, in our experience spoke good English. Recommended

Our accommodation had the perfect location; we walked everywhere. The nearby restaurants were serving great food. Our street had 2 nice restaurants that were frequented by locals, and the prices were very reasonable compared to the more touristy places.

Coimbra is a great city to visit and use as base to explore other locations in central Portugal. Make sure you wear comfy shoes, the cobbles streets and walking is often up steep hills. The library is worth viewing at the university, but make sure you book in advance or get there early, as they have limited tickets and time slots. The parks are beautiful along the river and worth taking the time to visit. If adventuring out, highly recommend Obidos and the Buddha Eden garden, as well as Aveiro and Costa Nova.

Coimbra has a lot to offer travelers.
Coimbra has a lot to offer travelers. Centro (old part of town) is very lovely and has a lot to see. Many small interesting roads and pathways to walk around and see beautiful buildings, historical churchs, shops, cafes...Restaurants are reasonably priced and there is a variety of different cuisines to accommodate everyone. We stayed one night, but could have easily stayed another night.

Coimbra is a great city with very interesting historical sites and churches. Interesting shops and restaurants.
the Igreja santo Christo is especially good to visit situated in a lovely square. The adjoining old cafe has a wonderful atmosphere with a performance of FADO (traditional Portuguese music ) every weekday from 6pm
It is a whimsical hotel, designed like a palazzo in Venice.
Staff is great, very helpful.
Breakfast is delivered to your room.
View from our room was magnificent, overlooking part of the city from a bird view point.
Location is close by to Old University, which is a must see in Coimbra, on the top of the old town .
Driving there is a lot of fun, particularly for north Americans. Narrow, steep, cobbled streets. Don't come with a big SUV, because you will have hard time to find a parking spot.
Appartment is located in the beautufull old center of Coimbra, in vicinity there are many cafes and restaurants and it is very easy to reach the University buildings from there. App is big enough, comfortable, clean and very nicely decorated, great view from the small balcony and hidden garden on the back side. I understand the same owner also runs nearby hotel Oslo, so you check in in the hotel and you can also store luggage there if needed. All personel is very kind and helpfull!
The location was beautiful and central. The apartment was beautiful and a good layout. We stayed at a few apartments in Portugal that had the same sort of sleeping arrangements/ small kitchen and living space and this was our favorite. It was a little lively at night since it was on the Main Street but wasn’t too loud that our kids couldn’t fall asleep at their normal time. We would definitely recommend staying here and visiting Coimbra.
Best stay in Portugal, the location was amazing. The scenery is unmatched and the staff were extremely helpful. The place looked even better than the pictures posted, was absolutely delighted with this stay. Of course you need a car but was a 6min drive to the city centre, loads to do and see in the city centre although the university you have to get tickets for everything and the times weren’t ideal. So I’d advice booking in advance.
Pretty nice hotel centrally located. Walking distance to the most important sites to visit in Coimbra. I did like the fact that you can have access to the building and room by door code. Ricardo is very hospitable, please follow up his instructions to walk around the city, due to the hills in the city. The hotel is very clean, modern, comfortable. I do recommend Sete Restaurant, close to the hotel. Good Portuguese food.
This is a reasonably priced, quiet, centrally located hotel that is just steps away from the centre of Coimbra. My room was clean and comfortable with efficient air conditioning, comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. Garage parking beneath the hotel was available for my rent a car for an additional fee. Hotel staff was courteous and professional and English speaking - highly recommended hotel
A top establishment. Right opposite Coimbra Town Railway Station yet we heard zero train noise.
It is within walking distance of good restaurants and I highly recommend Tartufo Italian.
The shower was the best we have had in Portugal! it is air conditioned however you can open the windows if you wish.
The bar on the roof has good drinks a a nice view of the city,
Highly recommended.
Location is excellent..almost directly across from Coimbra A train station. Decent facilities. A special recommendation to the staff’ and especially to Denise, who helped us with a hotel booking in Porto..she called the check in person in Porto and explained to him when we would arrive in Porto for check in. Her professional manner and kindness deserve special recognition.
Great location just across the river from the old city of Coimbra. Several good restaurants & cafes in the same block as the hotel. Easy parking at a public lot (3E/day) a couple of minutes ways. We had a 4th floor room next to kitchen and small patio which was nice for making breakfast. Friendly staff, clean room. Windows opened to get a nice breeze in the room.
- Good hotel with kids as it had a mini park in the swimming pool area. So close for parents to keep an eye on them. There was also an other activities room for kids.
- The Breakfast was great and had a large variety of both savoury and sweet.
- Can walk on river front from hotel to city centre
- Had some discounts for sightseeing like "Portugal dos Pequenitos"
You wouldn't know it from the outside, but this is our best stay in Portugal yet. Free parking underneath the apartment, Aircon, great facilities, clean and well organised. The location is actually fantastic, we were able to walk everywhere in the town from here. A big supermarket open 7 days is just 4 minutes away. Definitely recommend staying here.
We loved everything! Paula is such a kind and welcoming person who was attentive to our every need! We loved having her tell us about the history of Portugal, of Coimbra and also how she took a dilapidated, abandoned house and turned it into a gorgeous guest home with state-of-the-art fixtures and the most incredible breakfast!
The location ais great, very central! As Coimbra is quite small is a perfect place to stay for a weekend. The studio was cleaned, and has basic thing in the kitchen so enough to cook few basic meals. Perfect for a weekend or a pitstop while travelling trough Portugal. Also, there was an AC in the studio which helped a lot.
We had a great stay at this property. It is excellent value for money and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was generous and delivered to our room at a preferred time. Location is also great, right amongst the oldest university in Portugal.
The hotel stays at an excellent location, 5 minutes away from the heart of the city. The staff was really nice and we were very well welcomed. The room was great and big, clean and really comfy. For sure will be my first choice once I return to Coimbra
This is a fabulous hotel right on the main pedestrian street in the touristy part of town. The rooms are clean, updated, and very comfortable. This is a bargain for the price and we will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Coimbra.
staff was very helpful especially Paulo, Marta at reception and Marta in the restaurant. The hotel and gardens were beautiful but the breakfast was not as big or as good as other hotels we stayed at in Portugal
Staff was wonderful and it was a clean hotel. It was located in a more residential part of town easy accessible from Coimbra train station (you have to get the train from Coimbra-B, but it’s a 5 minute ride).
Very good value for money. New and clean. Good communication with the owner. We have stayed in 5 hotels or apartments in Portugal, so this is the best value for money.
Very cute hotel. Staff were very friendly. Great location. I have been travelling 5 weeks in Spain and Portugal and this was my favourite accommodation
Thank You
