we enjoyed Hue. So much history and good food
We loved the hotel we stayed. central to all the action but on a side street so didn't have the traffic. Staff was over the top with good service. We recommend the Serene Palace Hotel.

1/2 day visit to Hue UNESCO site and market on the way.
1/2 day visit to Hue UNESCO site and market on the way. Plenty of restaurants/tourist shops on other side of river (where my hotel was). Took cycle tour (Guru Walks) for 3 hours which I recommend. Interesting French colonial history.

There are many special foods for you to try.
I really like historical place such as: Tu Duc / Khai Dinh / Minh Mang Tomb and Hue Imperial Palace. Moreover you can come to Vong Canh Hills or Thien Mu Pagoda and Huong riverbank to enjoy sunsets.
Some places are quite far from the center but you can easily rent a motorbikes (you should) or book grabcar service.

Hué is a very large town, noisy and busy with traffic.
Hué is a very large town, noisy and busy with traffic.
The bars around the hotel have no restrictions whatsoever for noise until 3 am. This is totally disgraceful and the corruption of the government and the police are to blame. The hotel receives hundreds of complaints by their customers and have officially reported this problem.
The Old Citadel and Palace of Hue are worth coming to the town but the river boats called dragon boats are unfortunately only used by tourists because expensive.

See the citadel & the tombs of Emperors.
See the citadel & the tombs of Emperors. If you have time to see only one tomb see the tomb of Emperor Tu Doc. The grounds with lakes and bridges are stunning.
To appreciate it fully you need at least 3 hours there
Take time to see the large Catholic church - Phu Cam - but, more importantly, the little advertised but delightful Cao Dai Temple of Vinh Loi. It is a delightful mixture of East and West. The religion itself mixes East & West. It's a pity it is surrounded by ugly buildings.
To get the best out of Hue you need to spend at least 4 FULL days here. I spent 7 days over 2 years and I could do with spending another 3 days.
Hue is infinitely nicer than Ho Chi Minh City.

Hue was a great place to visit.
Good food. Nice people.
Hue was a great place to visit.
Good food. Nice people. Old stuff … the citadel is a bit of a let down … too much of it has been destroyed. You can’t really tell what is old or new.
Much preferred the temples and just walking the streets.
The staff were very helpful and assisted me with booking day trips and taxis. The room was spacious and I had a nice view of the city. The breakfast I had here is the best I've had so far at any other hotel in Vietnam. They had a wide selection to choose from and you could order noodle soups or eggs made to order. I also had a relaxing massage from the Spa in the hotel. The hotel is also conveniently located and is very close to the river, which is nice to walk along in the evenings.
We stayed one night at this hotel due to having to visit the hospital whilst travelling. The host was so helpful, accommodating and was so passionate about her hotel and local area. The rooms were basic but with a super comfy bed. In fact, during a month of travelling through Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand this hotel had the most comfortable bed. Breakfast was simple but very nice. I would have no issues in staying here again as I also found it to be a great central location within Hue.
The well-appointed interior reflects the royal-style architecture of Vietnam, making you feel like royalty. The rooms are luxurious and equipped with modern amenities. But the real star of the show is the helpful staff, who go above and beyond to ensure your stay is nothing short of perfect. From their warm greetings to their attentive service, they truly make you feel like a VIP. So go ahead, indulge in a regal stay at Thanh Lich Royal Boutique Hotel. You won't regret it!
The women who run the hotel are amazing. Very friendly, kind and great with our little one. They did a mixed breakfast for us - pancakes for kids and Vietnamese soup for us. If you don’t want to head out far, the restaurants in the street are good but if you’re on a budget, those on the main road adjacent to the river are best - and great food. It’s a bit of a party street but gets quiet early on Sunday to Thursday nights.
Great location, very modern and luxurious. We had been travelling around Vietnam for a few weeks in various styles of accomodation and although we loved them all it was so nice to have a few days of luxury. Bed was enormous and very comfortable and the bathroom was amazing. It was nice to be able to have a bath. Food at the hotel was great but there were also great options close by. Sky bar was great and had awesome views.
Had a great stay in Huê! The room was clean, the bed was super comfy, centrally located, and a bonus – we could check in earlier. The staff was friendly and helpful. Loved that the hotel provided recommendations using Google pins; it was a practical touch that enhanced our experience. It's worth mentioning that we could pay with a credit card without any fees, a convenience not found in every place.
Rooms are large and comfortable, and tastefully decorated. Beds are very comfy, and the bathroom was large with a good shower. The hotel is located very close to the walking streets and plenty of cafes, restaurants etc, but still very quiet in the hotel.
We drove here by motorbike, and there is secure paking on site. Very happy with our stay here, and would stay again when in Hue.
This was our favourite hotel during our travels through Vietnam. Highlights were the friendly and helpful staff, the clean and comfortable room, the good location for exploring the many sights of Hue, and the pool area - a great space for relaxing and cooling off and, if you are so inclined, enjoying a beverage from the bar. We’d definitely recommend a stay at the ÊMM Hotel Hue.
Beautiful 5 star hotel, attentive and helpful staff - wonderful restaurant and breakfast.
Reception really helped us to optimise our stay in Hué by organising a driver to take us to
the various monuments and sights that are out of the town. We didn't get the chance to use the pool or spa facilities but they looked great. A true 5 star experience.
Absolutely stunning location, an oasis of relaxation minutes away from the chaos of Hue. Excellent customer care with lots of attention to detail. The restaurant in the hotel offers one of the best meals we had in all our trip along Vietnam, offering local dishes with a fine dining twist as well as western dishes beautifully prepared and presented.
Gone with The Wind themed boutique hotel was more than comfortable for a one night stay. Clean, spacious rooms, good showers (good quality complimentary toiletries too). Most of all, the staff were wonderfully helpful - both Trinh and Ryan helped us to plan and navigate 48 hours around Hué, both very knowledge and great English! Thank you!
I had a delightful stay at Serene Palace Hotel. The reception staff are lovely, and the cleaning staff are very efficient.
The hotel is in a great location, with Vinmart, coffee shops, restaurants, and laundry within easy walking distance.
If I ever return to Hue, I would always stay at the Serene Palace Hotel.
The location of the hotel is nice - near many bar, restaurant and Hue city center.
The room is really nicely furnished/painted - great atmosphere in the room/bathroom. The food in the restaurant is very good. Especially, the breakfast was great and staff was very well organized during breakfast.
Nice lobby.
This is a pretty new hotel, with very comfortable rooms. Good design. I haven't slept better anywhere else in Vietnam. Felt so rested! Breakfast was also one of the best ones of my whole trip. Hotel has good drivers on call and arranged a nice city tour. Staff is super nice. Best place to stay in Hue
Sill Path Grand Hue Hotel was all about luxury, attitude and elegance.
Hotel features internal garden, terrace/ pool between Hotel buildings thus creating kind a Oasis you have always been looking for.
All was great including breakfast.
Very clean and charming little boutique hotel in Hue city. The staff members were kind and very servicemined. The food was excellent standard, we enjoyed both their traditional Vietnamese cuisine and the western cuisine.
clean well appointed hotel in a great area , close to “ walking street” 3 or 4 blocks of bars and restaurants where the streets are closed to traffic Friday Saturday and Sunday nights … a must do in Hue
The hotel is very nice and airy, I like the balcony and swimming pool here.
Enthusiastic consultant staff, recommending very good attractions in Hue for backpackers like me.
