I was really impressed and surprised by Bilbao.
I was really impressed and surprised by Bilbao. It has history and ancient sites, with the old town particularly charming. Also many plazas, squares and park and lots of life happening throughout the city. Lots of hidden gems and tons of interesting buildings and architecture. The Metro is really efficient so it's easy to get a way out from the centre and explore the beaches or hills. Loads of local walking opportunities as well. As a football fan I really enjoyed the tour of San Mames stadium. A great city for just walking and wandering.

Bilbao is very easy to get around.
Bilbao is very easy to get around. Walking is easy, mostly flat and lots of pavements and car free promenades along the river. There is one bus from the airport which drops you at Moyua square in the commercial centre. There is a tram and regular bus service to other areas. A funicular railway takes you up to Artxandako, a high point overlooking the city and surrounds. There is a cafe (Txakoli) for afternoon tea in the park at the top. The open tour bus is 16 euros (Feb 2024). In the Casco Viejo (old town) there is a plaza with many choices of Pintxos bars. We found it cheap to eat pintxos and local wine was only just over 2 euros a glass!
La Ribera market is a good stop for pintxos and refreshments and has a very good atmosphere. We went on a Sunday so the market itself was closed.

Guggenheim Museum and the old city were wonderful.
Guggenheim Museum and the old city were wonderful. We ate at the very cheap Rocket tavern, in the neighbourhood of the accommodation - it was excellent value for money. Bilbao has very good public transport, though it took some getting to know the best ways into the centre of town. I would avoid the buses as the trains are faster and more direct.

Amazing place to visit in December.
Amazing place to visit in December. It was quiet and safe place to walk around. Be ready to walk up and down the hills and burm calories after sumptous meals. Fnac is a good place to shop for maps, books and electronics. The old city and churches have characters, delightful to see and visit. Must visit the Guggenheim Museum, Begoñako Basilika, Bilboko Donejakue katedrala, the old city on both sides of the river. Try the local food in Erribera merkatua, Sugarra, Bombon Boss, Maestros Turroneros. We stayed in Hotel Gran Bilbao and Hotel New Bilbao airport, both are excellent hotels. For souvenirs, try the Atari souvenir shop in front of Bilboko Donejakue Katedrala. For necessities, BM Supermercados and Carrefour are handy. After that we hired Indiecamper van to go to Navarra region from Bilbao. Make sure to use google translate to communicate.
Wonderful place and comfortable to stay with all the facilities. It was clean and the hosts were super thoughtful and gave us great tips on exploring Bilbao. They put a lot of effort into the apartment decor and it had a very cozy feel. The apartment is very close to a supermarkets and it's very walkable to get to old town and city centre. The metro entry is a few steps away with a lift which is very much needed when carrying lots of luggage! Make sure you use the lift otherwise it's 5 or 6 stories of escalators and some steps.
The hotel is centrally located in the core of Bilbao, within walking distance of most major attractions. The rooms are exceptionally clean, as well as the common spaces. Upon arrival, we were directed by the attendant where to park in garage (parking against a fee), which made everything so easy. The front desk has a great attitude and was always very helpful. Of all of my stays in Spain, the breakfast at this hotel is SENSATIONAL. I would stay definitely stay at this hotel again!
We were given a free upgrade at check in which was a fantastic surprise especially as our stay was a mother daughter birthday trip!
Room was lovely and spacious, view of the river really worth it.
Breakfast was a good buffet selection of hot and cold foods.
Hotel is in a great location to explore Bilbao, just over the river from the Guggenheim and a short walk to the old town. Would definitely go back!
It is a modern hotel, well situated to explore the city. It is about a 50 minute walk to old town and about 25 to Guggenheim along the beautiful riverfront. It was a bit tricky to find the entrance to the underground parking. The room was clean and comfortable. Kudos to Ilinion Hotels for their inclusion of people with disabilities! A great place to stay- would not hesitate to stay again.
great location. beautiful area. we had a room with a view if the park. the staff was amazing, friendly and helpful. we we’re celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary with a month in Spain and when I made all the plans I informed all hotels. the manager of the Melia Bilbao was the only one to acknowledge it and sent up a bottle of Perseco. Adama at the front desk was a gem as well!
I liked everything about this Hotel. We travelled on the ferry from Ireland - very direct route from the port to hotel with convenient underground parking. 10 mins walk to Old Town. Staff very helpful and friendly. It's the place to be for comfort and experiencing Bilbao. I was in Bilbao twice before and wasn't as impressed by a long shot before.
We loved this stylish, modern hotel in an excellent location in Bilbao convenient for everything. Our room was bright and spacious with a small balcony onto the street which was very atmospheric. Also good soft lighting in the room (which isn’t always the case!). We appreciated the comfortable lounge/salon area to do some laptop work too.
This a terrific property located in the heart of Bilbao. The hotel is new and has every amenity you need. Breakfast is robust with made to order egg options. Parking is on site and only €20 per night. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a terrace level room and loved the outdoor space.
Staff is very helpful. Good location - just nearby old town. Tram and bus stops near by. Cafes and bars and grocery stores nearby - no point to take hotel's relatively expensive breakfast. Considering high price levels of Bilbao's hotels Sirimiri seems to have ok price/quality ratio.
Lovely boutique hotel in a great location in Bilbao, next to Guggenheim Museum and within walking distance of both the old town and the newer shopping district. Room was very spacious and bed was very comfortable. Good walk-in shower, with good bathroom amenities.
The location of the hotel is excellent - 15 mins from the old center and 15 mins from the new and the Guggenheim museum.
The room was basic a bit old style and a bit small but overall it was clean and ok for some nights in Bilbao.
Cool, modern hotel with a big, nice terrace! Calm thus the fact that it's a student dorm. Directly above Bilbao's main bus station and only 20 minutes walking distance to the old town (about 15 to Guggenheim museum).
Beautiful luxury hotel right on the main shopping street. Walk to Guggenheim pleasant along river or through lovely downtown Bilbao. Great room with super bed and furnishings. Helpful staff. excellent breakfast.
Location, walking distance from mayor attractions in Bilbao. The staff was friendly and help with tips about were to eat, most see and how to get there. Always welcome everyone that enter the hotel.
The location is close to the old town. The Guggenheim Bilbao Museum is also within walking distance.
The hotel is a small one. The room is small, but comfortable, clean and quiet.
Beautiful rooms, great value, one unique thing was the sparkling water dispenser on every floor. Fabulous idea! Excellent breakfast, the best we encounter in all of Spain.
It was in a great location for everything in Bilbao.the hotel it self is beautiful modern and the rooms are nice and big with very good ac and bathrooms
