Travelers who stayed in Bologna near Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) have said good things about Hotel EMI, Hotel Del Borgo, and Villa Aretusi.
World-class cuisine is what Bologna does best. Nowhere in Italy, a country with considerable culinary heritage, is the food considered to be better than in this medieval gem.
Bolognese sauce of course originated here, but to try the real thing look for "ragú" on the menu. Cold meats and cheeses are also exquisite. Make sure you save plenty of time for eating – the Bolognese like to savor their food, so a meal can last for hours.
Many of the best eateries and homemade ice cream shops are found behind the mile upon mile of porticoed streets, now UNESCO World Heritage sites. The complex of medieval churches and buildings in cobbled Piazza Santo Stefano is a tranquil spot to explore. Climb one of the Two Towers nearby (not the one leaning at a startling angle) for spectacular views of this red-roof city.
The focal point of Bologna is huge Piazza Maggiore, whose Santo Petronio church has an unimpressive, half-finished façade that doesn’t prepare you for its sheer scale inside. Fanning out from this square, the buildings of Europe’s oldest university, founded in 1088, are home to the city’s best museums.
Bologna accommodations at Booking.com range from small B&Bs to luxury hotels, all easily accessible from Bologna Airport just outside the city.
The city is very walkable with a lot to see. We only visited very few sights on our short stay. The food is incredible and the architecture is magnificent around the whole city. The portico's are amazing and it was really easy to walk everywhere. There are various areas to eat in that are a short walk from Piazza Maggiore and the energy the city had made us enjoy it even more. It was bustling and everyone was so nice and genuine.

A city with many impressive buildings, the Cathedral of San Pietro, Piazza Magiore, the statue of Neptune, the Cathedral of San Luca, Palazzo dell Archiginnasia, small restaurants with traditional dishes, pasta, ice cream, pastries....
Some places that I liked, I recommend Impero, Nero patisserie, Principe in centro for coffee.

Bologna is a beautiful city, full of history, museums and lovely shops and places to eat and drink. We walked for miles and miles along the porticos which the city is famous for. There are many places you can visit from the city by coach or train. We had day trips by coach to Florence, and train journeys to Ravenna, Ferrara and Modena. Venice and Verona are further but still within reach for a day trip.
We had a winter 14 day break, we enjoyed exploring at our own pace, eating fresh food at the apartment and eating out at other times.

Although we stayed 3 nights which was perfect, we could have easily stayed longer as it was the most magical place to meander the streets and immerse yourself in it's wonderful food and culture. This is a MUST destination and a visit to the top of the tower in the square is well worth the climb (although it is very challenging climbing up the 100 year old ladder). It is an easy city to get around and the information center is incredibly helpful. The food is just amazing and if you so desire then cooking in your apartment is made easy by the abundance of fresh produce available at your doorstep. We as a family felt safe walking around at night. I cannot wait to return to this beautiful city that stole my heart.

We had a great 3night/4 day stay in Bologna.
We had a great 3night/4 day stay in Bologna. The Hotel Phi, where we stayed, was excellent. The staff were pleasant and helpful, breakfast was high in quality and the room was very comfortable.
The city itself was a beautiful place to visit with the quirky portico system being particularly attractive. We took the walking tour and this was very informative and allowed us to get our bearings. Walking around the city centre was very pleasant and we were able to visit numerous cafes and bars.
It lived up to its reputation as a food city. Both lunches and dinners were superb in all the eating places that we visited.
The walk up to the basilica of San Luca, whilst challenging was a worthwhile experience, especially looking back on it. The views from the top were outstanding and the church was grand as were several others that we visited. T were all peaceful paces and were perfect for quiet reflection. A family situation made this particularly important for us.
My wife and I have been on very many trips together and Bologna is amongst the very top few. There is much to recommend it
Our flight got canceled so we arrived way later than planned. We e-mailed the hotel and they responded promptly that they would be open and waiting for us. This was a welcome relief close to midnight. The staff was very, very friendly and accomodating. I love the comfort of the bed and bedding and my partner reveled in the amenities provided in the bathroom. Breakfast was probably the best we had in our entire Italian adventure. I'd highly recommend this hotel for a one-night stay (only 15 minutes or less from Bologna airport).
We only stayed one night before boarding our flight but it’s enough to make us desperate to go back. Bologna itself is a lovely city. Exactly what you picture when you think of Italy. The hotel itself is charming and architecturally interesting. And you couldn’t ask for a better location, right in the centre of the city, attractions a short walk away but down a quieter side street so you don’t hear any city noise.
The staff were delightful, so accommodating. Great with our baby and so so helpful. Would love to have stayed longer
Old Bologna building reflecting city atmosphere. Located so close to Piazza Maggiore which is the heart of city. Be prepared for the smells coming outside cause there is beautiful flower shop just across the street also lots of marcados nearby. If you do not like raw fish smells be prepared cause there is another local store near the entrance of hotel, it hadn’t bother me. Staff were so helpful even they made me a small city route that I just had 3 or 4 hours in Bologna. You’ll adore rustic decoration of both room and lobby.
Starting with the polite and helpful hostess, Valentina who always with a smile made from the very first moment, our stay in that beautiful city easy and calm. The apartment was really excellent, with a unique interior, much space available for guests, also very clean and in the right spot of Bologna in order to feel the heart of the old city centre being every place of interest within walking distance. We wholeheartedly recommend Residenza Bianconcini for vacations in Bologna, Italy.
We had to pick up our friends, arrived in airport Bologna, and then drive further down to Toskana.
We already stayed in this hotel several years ago and found it very conveniently located fir our needs. Also we were very pleased by hospitality and comfort. Therefore this time we had no questions where to spend a night.
Room was very comfortable and calm although hotel is situated between airport and highway. It is surrounded by trees and makes feeling your vacation has been started.
Great location in central Bologna. This hotel is steps from Via Ugo Bassi and a 5-minute walk to Piazza Maggiore, perfect for anyone who wants a lower budget location for the heart of Bologna. There is a comfortable lounge for relaxing, if the rooms are too small to relax. They have rooms for single travelers, with smaller beds.
There is an elevator, which is a good thing, since there are 5 floors. They have a large luggage storage room, as well.
The hotel offers everything! Restaurant, bar, swimming pool, even a gym. It has the most central location you could find in Bologna which makes arriving and departing very easy by any transportation mean. The rooms are simple but
spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is very modern and practical. The staff was always super polite, kind and helpful. We stayed there twice already! It is perfect for business trips and remote workers too.
Staff were excellent and probably the best I have experienced while staying in Italy. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean stay, in an excellent location , and at a reasonable price. As mentioned by others, the hotel is effectively international traveler standard. All the staff spoke good English and made every effort to accommodate me during my stay. I will definitely be staying here next time I am in Bologna!
The hotel is located in an excellent place close to the old part of the city (20 min walk) and to the Bologna Central train station (12 min by bus). There is a great bakery with coffee across the road in front of the hotel and it's a wonderful place for breakfast. The room was clean, and the receptionists were very helpful and nice. It is allowed to leave your luggage in the hotel storage for a few hours after check out👍
Excellent value, location, comfort and care. Sweet and very centrally located. Camilla and the staff went above and beyond with recommendations and assistance, very helpful even when I had to make some last minute changes. This is everything you look for in a boutique hotel. Felt safe, cared for and very much at home - I will certainly be booking it again for our next trip to bella Bologna. Grazie!
Riccardo couldn’t have been friendlier and more helpful during our stay. The B&B and our room was modern and tastefully decorated. The bed was the most comfortable we had in two weeks travelling through Italy. The breakfast is more than generous and super tasty. Highly recommend.
Tip for fellow travellers: you’re not in the heart of Bologna but it’s only a 10 min bus or 20 min walk to the centre.
This hotel is located in the heart of Bologna, easy walking distance from attractions, restaurants, bars, and shopping. The hotel room was very comfortable and quiet with a large bathroom and balcony and an amazing view of the city. We drove a car and the staff assisted us with directions to the hotel, private parking on site, and assistance with navigating the streets to leave the city.
Hotel Bologna Airport offers very clean and well-organized rooms. The service is impeccable. The location is close to the airport but you still need a cab to reach it. There are a bar and a restaurant but the latter is perhaps a bit overpriced. The shuttle bus is not free but a very good service too.
The room was spacious and very clean. It also had a fridge which was a bonus! As it is not in the centre of Bologna, it was very quiet so I would recommend this hotel and would come back here if I were to stay in Bologna again. The breakfast was excellent as it had a wide variety of choice.
Modern hotel, light and bright. Very clean, spacious, comfortable room. Minute from the start of the main road up to the plaza, minutes from the express to the airport, so well situated.
On a main road, so some traffic noise not enough to keep you awake after walking Bologna all day tho !
The hotel's location is perfect Right opposite the Bologna central station, literally 30 seconds away. The Marconi express (airport shuttle train) is only 7 minutes from the airport. Comfy rooms and clean too. Lots of restaurants around the area too.
Excellent hotel located in Bologna surroundings, silent, modern and clean rooms. Very comfortable beds. Well sized and clean bathroom. Excellent breakfast with all you need to start your day. Simpatic and helpful staff. Excellent value for the money!
Small, cosy hotel very close to the airport. Large room, comfortable large bed. Good breakfast and excellent coffee. Friendly staff with very good English. The bus very close to the hotel will take you straight to Bologna city centre.
This hotel has one of the best restaurants I visited while in Italy. The salad was the best my wife has ever had. The owner did a great job of arranging transportation for us to the airport. The room was very comfortable and clean.
